About paulcrick

I am The Music Performance Coach and my passion is helping musicians to experience the joy and freedom of music performance by enabling them to take their performance from good to outstanding. Since the day I was brought into my parent's house to the present day music has been a part of my life - playing, performing and recording - though my day job has always been in the corporate world of marketing. In the early days I sat at the corner of my music centre (a Bush Arena Hifi) poised over the pause button on the casette deck taping Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show on Radio 1 and the UK's Top 40 each week. My album collection grew and I was baptised by Judas Priest (supported by Iron Maiden) into the world of live music. Since then, many concerts and CDs later my tastes are eclectic and extremely wide embracing most (if not all) genres one way or another. I confess to being late to the party for Opera and Big Band Jazz but am delighted to have an even larger body of work to explore, discover and get under my skin. I anchor a radio show for The Modern Vocalist social network (www.modernvocalist.com) and am a roving reporter for The Rock Show on Boundary Sound, one of our local radio stations (www.boundarysound.co.uk). I teach guitar and piano to a growing band of students and get to as many live gigs and concerts as the budget will allow. Today, my goal is to share a range of tools and techniques that are rarely (if at all) taught in any depth at Conservatoires or music college. I draw on cognitive psychology and the fast expanding field of energy psychology to help musicians win their own inner game of music. Music has the power to change individuals and to change the world and it my ambition - in my own small way - to help make a contribution to making the change that we all know is needed.

The Ego…

Ah, the ego! The little fella inside you that gets in the way on channelling music (amongst other things). Like a 2 year old with a temper tantrum it plays tricks with you – if you let it! Fed on … Continue reading
